nailed it.

i spent about an hour on this, from initial sketch to what you are looking at now. my idea for charmander is that it lives in a cave, probably in some type of mine shaft or mountainous area. since it is still very young it’s body can’t handle the harshness of a dryer environment now, like amphibians it has moist skin- only instead of keeping it from drying out it’s an oily substance that keeps it’s tail flame alight. it’s flame is what it uses to attract prey, so I would imagine it’s pretty important.
alright, after about an hour and a half of painting here is what i got.
i made bulbasaur some kind of frog creature, he needs to stay amphibious in order for the parasitic bulb on it’s back to absorb enough moisture to mature. instead of having a prehensile tongue, the bulb on it’s back has two insect catching vines or something.
yeah.
i need to practice more.
